Rainbow Dash didn’t know what to expect the next morning. She supposed she should remain optimistic for as the old saying went “Tomorrow is another day”. But even then, Rainbow Dash was at least realistic, she knew her son wouldn’t get over this so easily. Her morning routine went by in a gray monotone. She wasn’t her usual confident self, that much was clear. The same could be said for young Gale. The mother and son pair had their usual routine down to the finest detail. Every move was so entwined they would appear to be choreographed. That was the definition of their bond. From the day Rainbow Dash first held Gale within her hooves, the bond was there. But now, that bond was gone, or rather broken, and almost anything could be repaired. That’s what Rainbow Dash hoped as she prepared Gale’s breakfast. “Are you ssssure it’ssss the right time dear?” An annoyed sigh followed, “Watchful, we’ve been through thissss.” Within the earth that housed the home of Watchful and Adder, the two snakes were locked in discussion. The glowworms dimly lit the walls of their dwelling. As greedy as Adder was, she was wise enough not to devour their entire lighting, or mod cons as humans would call it. Adder wasn’t sure, that was just some word Weasel threw around once. Whatever it meant, they were well illuminated. At least, it meant their daughter would not be afraid of the dark. Their daughter was the source of their conversation. It had been some time since Mellow had been born. Adder had never known such happiness, even when killing Scarface, or devouring the tastiest of morsels, (the meal Watchful treated her to during their courtship, being a prime example). For the first time in a long time, Adder had known true happiness, and she had Watchful and their daughter to thank for
