Prologue:

Chaos spread throughout the red void. Within its center a strange sound emerged. A blaring siren sounded out, as if something was screaming in pain. Indeed something was yet it didn't know why. Within the void's center, a face of pure agony swirled. It was like staring into a nightmare from the darkest corners of ones mind. The chaos continued to spread as the siren of hell blared all the more loudly. Another sound joined it, it could only be described as static just a like a television set. The four figures that stood within, robots, watched this all with a fearful awe.

"Ness!" A voice called out from the void

There was one robot different from the others in design. They all looked the same all except the one carrying a baseball bat. This one had a red cap atop its head. The red capped one looked up at the sound of its name. A fifth figure emerged from nowhere. A twisted looking machine floated above. It held the shape of a spider yet the metal was unlike any found on earth. Situated in its center was an eye. Coupled with all of these features, the machine looked as if it were a creature straight from hell itself. Yet the glass dome showed it indeed was nothing more than a simple machine. A cockpit lay inside with its pilot manning the controls.

The pilot himself was a young boy, just barely into his teens. The boy was dressed in a fancy red and black striped business suit. A mop of blond hair covered his eyes but the most distinguishing feature of the boy was his slightly upturned nose, much resembling a pig's. At least that would have been his only distinguishing feature back when he was an ordinary human. Where was one pink skin was now blue, pale, and discolored. Despite the slight alteration of his humanity, he still viewed himself as a normal boy.

His name was Porky Minch.

Underneath his hair, Porky's eyes stared at the foursome with uncertainty. "Now, I....well....." Clearly a cool, calculating mind had been broken by this small bump in the road. "It's going to seem like I'm running away." A smirk flashed upon the piggy boy's face. "But perhaps I'll just sneak away into another era to think about my next plan." The smirk turned into a full on evil grin, a grin that Porky had come to enjoy showing. "It's a good bet we will see each other again." Whether that was true or not, the robot that Porky refereed to as Ness stared up at his adversary. "All right! I'll be seeing you! So which one of us do you think is the cool guy now?!"

Porky didn't expect an answer to the question. Pushing a buttons on the console, the spider mech vanished into thin air. The void grew more chaotic. The sea of torment engulfed the robots, their mechanical bodies torn from both battle and the collapse of this nightmarish realm. A growl echoed forth from the void, the final cry of a tortured creature. Yes, the void itself was a living entity, if it could even be called "living" now. Once it had a name; that name was Giygas.

Giygas felt its death, but could not comprehend it, for any traces rationality within its mind had long since been extinguished. Bit by bit, piece by piece, Giygas's form fell apart. Right before the end, one final thought managed to sneak out. Perhaps, the only thought that it could really understand.

"Maria?" Then all went silent.

The void had vanished and in its place were the four broken machines. The war with Giygas was over; the world had been saved by the fallen heroes. Or at least their mechanical bodies. Housed within the robotic frames were human souls, souls that now departed from the metal husks and returned back to their fleshy containments.

Somewhere, someplace in a different time altogether, four children awoke. They had come from different parts of the world yet they had all been chosen. Their destiny bonded them as friends but now that friendship had to be separated. The four said their goodbyes and each returned their hometowns. The capped one, the boy named Ness found himself again in the town of Onett, his birthplace. Although the journey had been long, hard, scary and a bit daunting at times, he and his newfound friends had accomplished great things.

It wasn't everyday you saved the world from a cosmic destroyer. For now, Ness was happy to return to being a normal kid. He could taste the steak freshly prepared by his mother, feel the soft confines of his bed. Before he stepped into his home he stopped at one last place; His next door neighbors the Minchs. The Minch household had been changed a lot since Ness had left, but one thing he noticed that caused a small worry in his mind, Porky wasn't home.

XXX

He didn't know how long he had been staring outside his cockpit window. Porky's face had frozen like ice. Outside a ruined wasteland greeted him. When he had fled he didn't know which era he would have landed in. Since he now had the capacity to time travel whenever he pleased, he figured he could have simply hop around if needed. Yet somehow, he didn't expect this. Wherever he was, it had once been a bustling town. Buildings were completely shattered into whatever material they were made of. Where there were once plants was nothing but charred landscape. Porky observed his surroundings with silent pondering. Something had happened, a war maybe? For all he knew he could be hundreds or even thousands of years into the future.

Then he found the sign. There had been at one time a "Welcome to" apart of it, but by now the only word that remained was "ne".

Ne, a silly name for a town. Of course Porky knew that wasn't its name. Those were merely what was left of it.

"Onett." Porky mouthed. Although the design of the buildings and land had changed with time, Porky found the layout hauntingly similar.

Porky could have gone to his news, could have cried, could have recited a line from a movie he saw, "Damn you all to hell!" or something along those lines. But he did neither of those things. Instead he laughed. The laughter thawed his icy face. He laughed long and hard showing what little of his sanity remained.

Humanity had finally done it. They had destroyed their own world. Porky couldn't help but find that amusing. Giygas had freed him from the chains of morality opened his eyes to the truth. Darkness lay within the minds of everyone. Giygas had taken advantage of that enslaving many to his will. Some would call it brainwashing; Porky on the other hand had a different view. People's true nature had been brought to the surface.

A mental scoff followed upon the memory of Giygas. The "universal cosmic destroyer" as some had called him. Porky had bestowed another title, an "almighty idiot". The latter fit as the so called destroyer's mind and body had been destroyed by the weight of his own power. Giygas was the past, literally. His thoughts turned back towards Ness. A snicker followed after that. Oh how he would love to take his former "friend" and show him the harsh reality of this time period. His next door neighbor had tried to give the world a brighter future only for it to be completely and utterly annihilated. The irony was just delicious! It was within that moment he had written a letter and sent it back in time. If Porky guessed correctly, his younger brother Picky would find it and deliver it to Ness.

"Come and get me, loser! Spankety, spankety, spankety!" He had written, knowing perfectly well Ness would never be able to follow him.

With nothing more of interest to see, Porky's mech took off into the sky. His eyes searched what remained of the scarred planet Earth. Most of where he went was the same lifeless tomb. Although a part of him held some skepticism that human kind was wiped out. One thing he had to give his race credit for, they were very resilient. History had shown that humanity could adapt and grow no matter what befell them. Human spirit would be another term for it. Porky's search stopped before he could see if the so called "human spirit" held up. Sandwiched between the ruins of the old world was life. Curious, Porky ventured into this lush greenery and honestly was amazed by what he found. Dragons, griffons, manticores, he even saw a hydra; A realm of fantasy had blossomed forth, the fantasies depicted in fairy tales. Although this land had many creatures, one race appeared "dominant".

Porky couldn't believe his eyes at first. The dominant species were multi colored, like walking crayons. Any walking they did were upon four legs, long tails swishing back matching their manes. Upon their rumps were what appeared to be…….butt symbols? As silly as it sounded, the creatures actually had symbols depicted upon their rumps. They were various shapes, from animals, to stars, to just about anything.

The boy blinked twice before he spoke the name of this new race. "Ponies?" His right eye twitched as did his mouth as it formed into that familiar smirk. This could be interesting. Little girly animals reigned in this new world, and here he was, a remnant of a lost age. Although he wasn't the same fat kid from a backwoods town, no he was much more now.

With another grin, glorifying thoughts danced within his head.

XXX

Spike hummed a tune as he pulled his specialties' out of the oven. Triple Decker nut crazy vanilla cream cookies. They were a work of art if he did say so himself. He remembered the first time he baked these beauties, he had been so proud of himself, more so to see Twilight enjoy them so much. Only for special occasions did he make them and today was very special. Setting them down, he opened a window to let them cool. Partially he hoped that the smell would provoke compliments at his culinary skills, or at least in backing cookies. After all, he was his best friend's number one assistant.

The door suddenly flew open and an excited purple unicorn stepped through.

"Hey Twilight, you're just in time." Spike was about to show her the cookies when she interrupted whatever he was going to say.

"It's here! The book shop actually had it!" Twilight cried happily.

Spike shook his head with a chuckle. Twilight certainly loved to read, back in Canterlot it was her number one hobby, spending hours with her nose pressed into the pages. In her bag, Spike could make out several titles.

"Don't you think you have enough books?" Spike half joked.

Twilight carefully dumped her new purchase on a table. There were several titles, one being a new astronomy book to replace the one Spike had incinerated with a sneeze. The others were simply history or magic related. One title that caught his eye in particular was the one at the very top of the book stack. Obviously Twilight put it there to read later tonight. Well there were two titles, one just below the top one was a book entitled "Overcoming Shyness".

"Can you believe it Spike? I've been looking everywhere for this book. Thank goodness the shop owner managed to find it."

Ah yes, Spike remembered. Twilight kept a good ear or eye for any new books she had yet to read, or in this case, an old one. In comparison to the other books, this one appeared very old. Well so did the book about shyness, but that one wasn't important. "Ancient Myth's & Mystic Affinities" was the long sought after tome.

"I thought you already had enough of Equestrian legends?" Spike posed another question.

"This isn't just any book Spike, this book is one of the most extensive lore's in Equestrian history, going farther than the princess's reign, maybe even the Discordian age!" Twilight's eyes sparkled as the possibilities of new knowledge opened itself up to her.

Spike could tell his friend was just about ready to dive in and wear out her eyes, but they matters to attend to. "Yeah, but we should get going." The dragon reminded.

Twilight then realized it. "Oh right! The party." In the excitement, she had almost forgotten about Pinkie Pie's party. "Well I see you made your famous cookies." The smell still lingered in the air. "And they smell just as scrumptious as ever."

Spike beamed with pride. "What can I say? I'm a dragon of many talents." Spike blew against his claws and dusted them off against his chest.

Twilight giggled. "Well my many talented assistant, wrap those cookies up and let's get going." Something crossed her eye. One of the cookies had pink frosting and was shaped like a heart. "Spike? Why's that cookie different?"

Spike gazed dreamily at the heart cookie. "I'm saving that one for someone special." Spike sighed.

This provoked a roll of the eyes from Twilight. Spike and his obsession with Rarity, the unicorn just reminded herself that Spike would grow out of this eventually. Once he reached maturity, his hormones would kick in and he would seek out mate eventually.....maybe. Twilight knew dragon's came in a variety of species, all with different life cycles. While that would have been an interesting subject to discuss, the pony and the dragon walked out the door.

The sun had started to sink beyond the horizon. Princess Celestia's job was almost done and Princess Luna would soon raise the moon high above. Despite that, Ponyville still was very much alive with activity. As they walked, Twilight and Spike were greeted by many passers-bys, Bon Bon, Lyra, Carrot Top and among others. Canterlot may have been her birthplace, but Ponyville was her home. Sugar cube Corner lay ahead. The moment she opened the door, happy music blared against her ears.

"Twilight! Spike! You made it!" An ever cheerful voice greeted them.

"Hey Pinkie Pie." Twilight greeted before she was literally dragged in by the excitable pink earth pony.

The whole room was done up in streamers. Confetti and balloons littered the floor. The usual Pinkie Pie touch.

"You're just in time for your super duper, spectacular, sensational party!" Pinkie hopped up and down with joy.

"My party?" Twilight spoke confusedly. Honestly she didn't know what occasion this party was for. Pinkie Pie had just sent out the invitation and Twilight and Spike attended.

A giggle came from the sugar hyped pony. "Silly billy, it's the anniversary when you first came to Ponyville!"

That's right, today was the day. She couldn't believe she hadn't realized it. It may have been the fact she had gotten so used to living here.

"Awesome Spike! You made your super yummyrific cookies!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed.

Spike felt another shot of pride swell within him.

"Just set in down over there by the other goodies." Pinkie directed.

Next to Pinkie Pie was a table set up with an assortment of treats and dessert. They all looked so delectable and sweet that Twilight found her mouth starting to water at the sight of them. Cakes, pies, cookies, candy, just about anything and everything that came from the Cake's kitchen.

"Wow Pinkie Pie! You really outdid yourself." Spike praised.

Pinkie giggled. "Oh I didn't bring everything silly. Applejack and Rarity brought the pie and cake.

Upon the floor were many guests, several were those she saw on the street, while four she recognized right away: Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, four of her very dearest friends, the first ones she had made when she first came to Ponyville.

"It's good you stopped in Twilight." Pinkie continued, "you're just in time for the piñata!" Pinkie directed to the hanging paper mache sun. The one that Fluttershy was meekly swatting.

"A-a-alright. I'm ready." Fluttershy meekly squeaked. The timid pegasus held the stick in her mouth.

"Come on Fluttershy! Whack that thing!" Rainbow Dash stood beside her cheering her friend on.

That only served to make her even more nervous. Still it was a party. Taking the stick, Fluttershy tapped it against the piñata. "Did it break?" She asked.

Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes. "I'll show you how it's done." The brash pegasus took the stick away from Fluttershy and with a mighty whack; the piñata burst open spraying candy everywhere. "That's how you break a piñata, Rainbow Dash style!" Rainbow Dash proclaimed proudly.

Fluttershy removed the blindfold covering her eyes. "I think you were supposed to wear this."

While that went on, Applejack and Rarity noticed the arrival of Twilight.

"Twilight, it's so good to see ya sugar cube. Hope y'all are in the mood for mah homemade apple pie." Applejack grinned and pointed to the baked pastry.

"It looks delicious Applejack." Twilight remarked.

Grinning at the praise, Applejack was about to go on about how it was a special family recipe baked for the occasion, until Rarity butted in.

"Twilight dear, may I suggest you try my Red Velvet cake? Trust me your taste buds will just scream with utter delight." Rarity flicked her mane as she showed off her own work. Indeed it looked like a good cake.

"I didn't know y'all could bake. Ya really didn't seem like the type." Remarked Applejack.

This was true, Rarity wasn't known for baking. The fact she actually made something with her own two hooves sparked some skepticism in its taste, despite its seemingly scrumptious appearance. "I dabble from time to time. Come on try a piece." Rarity offered.

Both mares continued their skepticism towards the baked good, but not wanting to offend their mutual friend, they took a piece and bit into it. It only took two chews for them to stop completely.

"Well?" Rarity asked.

Twilight and Applejack both swallowed. Their eyes darted to one another searching for something to say.

"Hey Rarity, Spike made you a special cookie." Twilight hoped that would serve as a diversion.

It did.

Getting the signal, Spike grabbed the cookie from the tray and bashfully showed it to his crush. Rarity gave a tiny gasp as she noticed the pink frosting and the heart shape. It even had little sprinkles, almost as if they were little gems.

"My now isn't that adorable. Thank you, Spike." Rarity praised. That comment made the little dragon melt.

"Anything for you oh, lovely one." Spike dreamily spoke. Not that Rarity really noticed, she simply was grateful for the gift and found Spike just cute. Spike would not give up though. Seizing the moment he decided to chat with Rarity, up furthering her away from the treat table.

Glad her diversion worked for the moment, Twilight breathed a sigh of relief. Beside her, Applejack tried to brush off the taste from her tongue. "Good save Twi." the cow mare whispered. Cake baking was a skill Rarity definitely needed to brush up on.

"Pinkie really outdid herself." Twilight remarked observing the good time everyone was having.

"Well she's going to have to top it off at my party." Rainbow Dash dove in between the two.

Both Twilight and Applejack raised a curious eye towards their pegasi friend. "Your party?" Twilight inquired.

Rainbow Dash flashed a large grin, deciding to fill them both in. "My victory party of course, once I nail the Wonderbolts try out next month."

This sparked interest in the girls. "They're actually holding try outs?" Asked Twilight.

"Yup and yours truly is going to enter and nail it." Rainbow Dash boasted.

While Twilight was pleased with her friend's chance at joining her idols, Applejack wasn't entirely convinced. "Now don't take this the wrong way Rainbow. Ah'm rooting for ya.......but don't y'all think your counting your chickens before they hatch?"

Rainbow Dash waved her hoof dismissively. "Please. I won the Best Young Flyer competition and with my awesomeness I'm sure to fly in and blow all the other participants out of the water." At that very moment, the proud pony's eyes shone as her fantasy played forth. "I can see it now. The Wonderbolts will be so impressed they'll have to make me a member. Eventually they'll make me their leader and my maneuvers would become a part of their routine! I'll go down in history as the best flyer in the Equestrian skies. Then at the end when I'm retired, I'll hang up my costume in a display case for all pony eyes to see." Rainbow's face softened into a more relaxed position. "And I'll tell my grand foals tales of my greatness."

As her self aggrandizing tale came to an end, Twilight looked at her friend with a blank stare. "You've thought about this a lot haven't you?"

Rainbow Dash nodded. "Yes...Yes I have."

"Now hold on a moment!" Applejack interjected. "Grand foals? That would mean meeting a stallion."

"Hey it could happen." Rainbow Dash replied.

"Yeah but.......we didn't think you were into.......meeting guys." Applejack reluctantly admitted.

Something in the way the earth pony said that sentence implied something. "What's that supposed to mean?" Applejack didn't answer; neither did Twilight when Dash looked at her with the same face.

Fluttershy, who had remained silent throughout the whole exchange shyly trotted up. "It's just that......we mean.....with that thing with your griffon friend Gilda.........You know how jealous she was........we didn't think you liked........" Fluttershy eeped when Rainbow Dash gave her the same look. "Never mind." She wisely shut her mouth.

Annoyed as she was about her orientation being questioned, Rainbow Dash didn't bother dragging it on seeing as she was among friends. That and Pinkie Pie spontaneously burst in on the scene.

"Picture time!" She cried dragging all four girls along with Rarity and Spike into one big group. Setting up the camera, Pinkie pie set the timer. "Okay girls, say "Fuzzy Pickles"!"

That word brought made everyone blink at the oddness of it. Silly sounding it may have been, all the girls recited as Pinkie Pie got into the center.

"Fuzzy pickles!"

As hours passed, the party went on splendidly. They played games such as pin the tail on the pony; they danced, ate a lot of food and followed up with more pictures. In all of it, Twilight felt welcomed as this was all in her honor. Her friends always made her feel special, but today she felt it more than ever. The sun eventually fell and by the time everypony went home, the moon had set. Now that the day was done, Twilight could get to what she had wanted to do; read her book.

"Ugh. I ate too much cake" Spike moaned rubbing his bloated midsection. Having an iron stomach, the dragon wasn't sick with a stomachache, but rather from the feeling of being stuffed.

"That's what you get for eating Rarity's cake in one bite." Twilight lectured.

Spike didn't care however. So long as it pleased Rarity he would eat a hundred of her cakes. The taste didn't even bother him considering he had once eaten worm infested muffins once. "Well I'm going to hit the hay, night Twi." The dragon flopped himself in his bed.

"Goodnight Spike." Twilight bid, but a snore answered back.

Turning back to her book, Twilight absorbed the information. Indeed this old tome held a vast amount of information. Much of Equestria's history was unknown to the pony populace, Perhaps maybe even the princess's. There was much on the age of Discord, or the Discordian age from which the spirit of chaos ruled. Any information she had asked on that had come from her mentor Princess Celestia's mouth. To be frank, she had never asked much of her teacher's past, even when she was a young filly studying under her. At times however she noticed her teacher would look at the moon sadly. Twilight had not known why at first but later understood she simply thought of her then imprisoned sister. Though now the two siblings were reunited. Though she had gained some back story, really anything past the legend of Nightmare Moon, Discord's reign, or the start of the Grand Galloping Gala was as far back as anyone could really tell. Anything beyond that was a mysterious haze.

Twilight hoped this book might shed some light.

The book itself was a very interesting read. Mostly it was just myths and legend of varying credibility. Still they were interesting to Twilight. What intrigued were most were the collections of stories involving the world beyond. By that, the world beyond refereed to the realm beyond Equestria. There were the griffon kingdoms bordering them, the zebra country across the sea, the buffalo lands and many other countries, but beyond the known world was a lost one waiting to be discovered. The book detailed many thoughts and myth's of what that world may be like. Really most were just hypothesis or tall tales. A wild wasteland, toxic marshes, horrible monsters feeding off the flesh of the living, little stories. Yet there were some more credible tales from ponies who had supposedly traveled to the lost world. Some said the rumors of it being a wasteland were true. Claims of an age long past. While some had only glimpsed at this apparent wasteland, there were others who ventured deeper and were never heard from again. Some even said there was a prehistoric underworld. As the young pony continued to read, another section caught her eye.

This section spoke of a race that predated ponykind, griffin kind, dragon kind and numerous other races. The nameless creatures spoken of in the passages walked on two legs and from the details of the lost world, they were talented in architecture and science, for the ancient society glimpsed showed signs of greatness. But in its place was nothing but ruin so perhaps they were capable of such as well. But it spurred a yearning within Twilight for more. Unfortunately there wasn't much info on their appearance or how they created their world, just educated guesses. One theory a theory Twilight agreed with was that Equestria and the rest of the known world was once apart of the lost one. Something had happened in the Earth's past and the result was well.....the present. Nobody really knew how the known world was formed; it had just been there magic and all. Going on the subject of magic, another passage caught her eye once more. From what was excavated and discovered, there were findings that the mysterious two legged creatures had a magic of their own. This ability was nameless but scholars and scientists reasoned that perhaps this "magic" was a precursor to the magic of today.

This precursory magic originated from a source. That source was the mind. The creatures could manipulate their mind powers to create, destroy, or even heal. Not much had been written on it that couldn't be argued as a hoax, but Twilight agreed with it. Ponykind itself had magic broken into the three races. Unicorns possessed "basic" magic like telekinesis or winking or just about anything spell related. Pegasus ponies could control the weather. Lastly, earth ponies had a strong connection with the land and were physically stronger than the other races. Indeed something had happened that made the two legers disappear and the birth of the current world. As much as she wanted to read on, a yawn reminded her it was getting late. Marking her place she closed the book and went outside on the balcony for some fresh air. Hopefully she would finish her current book so she could start on "Overcoming Shyness".

So was everyday life in Ponyville . Whether it'd be saving a friend from gem obsessed canines, making a sleeping dragon move, saving somepony's fashion career or even saving Equestria itself. Twilight faced them all with her friends. They were the wielders of the Elements of Harmony, the most powerful magic in all of Equestria. Their bond faced many trials but it withstood anything that challenged it and it would never be broken.

Friendship may have been strong, but it was like strong. It could hold but slowly it might unravel. A new chapter in their life would begin, one for all of Equestria. Their country and their world would be thrust into a series of changes. Changes that would alter their very lives. However, they didn't know. Yet it would happen and there was nothing they could do to stop it.

XXX

Up and down the yo-yo went. Perfect....it was the perfect example of control. Up and down once more, its movements were dependant on the one playing with it. This yo-yo was like the world itself. Only the talented could control its course. Strength and power were another part of control, traits that only some had or deserved. He possessed both strength and power and frankly he deserved them.

Ponyville lay there asleep. So quant, so serene; a center point surrounded by forest and paths. The ponies had built their world well, but they were just that, ponies, animals who had gained sentience. Humanity may have been responsible for that. Who knew? Humanity had fallen leaving animals to take their place. They didn't even try to give off an illusion of two legs, they kept their four legged designs yet they functioned like the societies of old. They were something else to him: Toys. Collectible little play things for a child's amusement, his amusement. Equestria and its surrounding countries were nothing more than a giant toy box to play with. His game had already spread to several towns and cities, covertly working its way in so that their precious princesses wouldn't notice.

Celestia and Luna. The sun and moon deities would have to be dealt with in time, the sun sister mostly. Good thing the next part of his game involved them. Firstly, Ponyville had to enter the game. Another little stepping stone to walk over.

Flicking the yo-yo, it went back to his hand its master. Grinning, his eyes eyed the hamlet with joy he had not felt in a while.

"Let the games begin. Spankety, spankety, spankety."
Finally I have updated the prologue for this. As I have said before, this is a readaption/crossover/AU of the game Mother 3 or its unofficial name Earthbound 2. I'll try not to make this a copy by copy piece by piece version of the game, but rather try to readapt and alter it to best flow in a coherent fashion. All I can say is enjoy.

I've just read all the chapters of your story and I have to say. This is a pretty cool story. :) I'm a BIG Mother/Earthbound fan and I've been waiting to see how someone would cross the series over with MLP:FiM. :D

So this is about what would happen if Porky founded the Pigmask Army if the world of MLP:FiM happened to reside in the far future rather than Mother 3's story. That's quite an interesting re-adaption.

Oh man, I know this is far from where you are but I'm wondering what does Porky plan to do with Celestia and Luna? (This is a big Celestia fan talking right here. ^^;) Porky is going to need a lot in order to take the royal sisters down.

BTW, I think an appropriate alternate title for this story would be "Mother P".
